Designed for students ready to move beyond the introductory steps, this 4-week, once-a-week series focuses on refining your technique and building a powerful foundation to prevent plateaus. Class duration is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Welcome to the authentic heartbeat of bachata. This beginner series introduces you to the Dominican style where it all began. You'll learn the essential basic step, tap, and side steps that form the foundation of the dance. We focus on feeling the iconic guitar and bongo rhythms, developing simple body movement, and learning to connect with a partner in a relaxed, traditional close hold. No experience needed—just a desire to learn the real bachata in a fun, supportive environment. Class duration is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

TRADITIONAL BACHATA SERIES II

Thursday @ 7:15PM

February 5th, 2026

You’ve mastered the basics—now, refine your technique and expand your vocabulary. This series is for dancers ready to build upon the core Dominican style with more intricate footwork, dynamic turns, and essential partner connection techniques. We’ll focus on clear leading/following, musical phrasing, and styling that honors the tradition while expanding your expressiveness. Prerequisite: Comfortable with the basic step, side steps, simple turns, and can maintain timing to traditional music. Class duration is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

$125 Per Person

Series, Training & Performance Teams: What to Know

Every SERIES Class includes four classes, held once a week.

The Training and Performance Teams require a 6 to 8-month commitment.

With the exception of the Seattle Slaydies and Salsa/Bachata Level 1 Training Teams, an assessment is required for Salsa Levels 2 and 3 Training Teams and PIVOT Salsa & Bachata Performance Teams.

Level 3 is where artistry takes center stage. This advanced level is for dancers ready to transform technical skill into unique personal expression. You will master intricate partnerwork, including complex hand patterns, drops, and syncopations, while weaving Afro-Cuban movement into your style. The curriculum focuses on performance-level choreography, style, and nuanced musical interpretation. This level is dedicated to those pursuing the highest expression of the art form.

Level 2 is about flow and conversation. Building on a strong foundation, we focus on connecting moves seamlessly and deepening your dialogue with the music and your partner. You’ll learn more advanced turns and transitions, begin accenting musical phrases, and develop personal style through body movement and shines. Practicing both lead and follow will enrich your partnership skills, transforming precise technique into smooth, expressive dance.

Salsa LVL 1 Training Team with Scott on Wednesdays at 7:15 PM to 8:30 PM

Level 1 builds your dance from the ground up. We focus on impeccable technique—perfecting your posture, balance, and footwork while mastering the essential language of partnership through a strong frame and clear connection. You will drill core patterns like Cross Body Leads and turns with precise timing, and train your ear to find the signature “2” beat. This stage establishes the disciplined foundation of strength, precision, and musicality that all advanced skill depends on.
